Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Questers and Planners parties.
Fans can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
